Project Description


The Energy Project has been partnering with the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage since 2015 on the Home Energy Action (HEA) Program. The Energy Project’s involvement in this program has entailed:

  • Detailed program design for the Community Housing stream
  • Advising as lead technical consultant
  • Advising on other program streams
  • Undertaking the major recruitment phase within the Social Housing Provider (SHP) sector
  • Overseeing the implementation of energy upgrades with several SHPs  including St George Community Housing, Housing Plus and Sapphire Coast Tenancy Scheme – from commencement to completion
  • The $5.4 million St George Community Housing project was the largest project by far delivered through the Home Energy Action program which included the oversight of the supply and installation of ~850 solar power systems
  • Providing ongoing technical and strategic advice to the HEA team
  • Developing detailed technical specifications for energy efficiency measures and solar power systems

The Energy Project is currently engaged as a Technical Consultant for the following Home Energy Action programs: Hume Housing, Compass Housing and City West Housing. The deployment of solar power systems is a focus of all of these projects.
